Abstract:
A short account and the results of a theoretical investigation (cf. Ref. 1 and 2) of the velocity field induced by a lifting rotor is given. The computation is based on the assumptions that the rotor is lightly loaded and that it has an infinite number of blades. This is applied to calculate the induced velocity distribution for disc incidences of 0, 15, 30, 45 and 90 deg. For the downwash at the rotor itself (the normal component of the induced velocity) the Fourier coefficients are given, as they are needed for the calculation of the blade motion.
