Abstract:
The equations of motion for the single-point suspension system are studied, and the method of analysis for determining the yawing moment and product of inertia given. The presence of interference from a 'rocking' mode is indicated, but the method of analysis is not affected. Design procedures are suggested which would minimise the interference from the 'rocking' mode. Flexibility of the suspension point is shown to be unimportant, as is also the effect of using a free spreader frame to lift the aircraft. Finally some analogue computer results are given to illustrate the motions and the method of analysis.
