Maritime Forces All Hands : Magazine of the U.S. Navy All Hands is the United States Navy monthly publication. It provides official information about the US Navy, operations and careers. This site provides the full text in pdf format from 1997 to the present. Annual Report to the President and the Congress 1998 Report by the Secretary of State of Defense, W.S. Cohen, on future US defense strategy, readiness, conventional and nuclear forces, information superiority, total force integration, the revolution in military affairs, acquisition reform and defense infrastructure. Annual Reports to the President and Congress Also known as the Annual Defense Report, this is the report by Secretary of Defense which details the Department's capabilities, and present and future US defence strategy. Full text annual reports are available from 1995 to the present year online. There are also details on how to order hard copies of the reports. Canadian Navy The Canadian Navy home page provides information about the fleet. It gives details of naval operations and exercises, including Operation Apollo. There are links to careers, the history of the Canadian Navy, which links to Project Pride giving historical information and an image gallery. There is also news and information, an image gallery and links to formations and units and associations. Department of Defense Web Site Registration System This site provides links to information sources available from the US Department of Defense offices and agencies. It is the central registration point for official US DoD web sites. It covers the Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force as well as other DoD web sites and information sources. There is also a Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA) electronic reading room which contains links to documents and information on sources for further reading. The listings can be browsed or searched. Infanteria de Marina The Infantería de Marina is part of the Armada Española (Spanish Navy). Spanish Marines are sea soldiers- they belong to the Navy and have Navy regulations, but they will always be Marines, serving in marine units and performing marine tasks. This unofficial website for the Spanish Marines provides information about their history, background, badges and units. There is also an image gallery and links to other related sites. There is a brief overview of the Spanish -Italian Amphibious Force (SIAF). The site is also available in English. Jane's Navy International This site provides an online version of Jane's Navy International. The latest news is given in brief, plus information on signals and a fleet review. There are also features, interviews and special reports, plus updates from industry. Other online publications from Jane's can also be reached from this site. Lockheed Martin Naval Electronics and Surveillance Systems - Marine Systems This division of Lockheed Martin is involved in designing and building vertical launching systems for use on Navy surface ships, and hull form technology. This site provides the background and history of the company, product details and information on the history of the products, and employment opportunities. Marine Safety and Environmental Protection This site provides safety and environmental protection information for the maritime community. A link is provided to the Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) website. It is also possible to reach the National Maritime Center and information about navigation rules. Licensing, regulations, vessel documentation and waterways management are also covered. Links are provided to the Coast Guard homepage, and the US Department of Transportation. Naval Aviation News The Naval Historical Center's online Naval Aviation magazine. Information is provided on aircraft designations and squadrons, aircraft carriers and aviation pin designations. There are online copies of the magazine from 1980-present. The site also provides links to the Naval Aviation History Branch and the Office of the Director, Naval Air Warfare. Naval Open Source Intelligence This site provides the latest world naval operational news and also an archive of news stories back to January 2000, there is also a summary of the major news headlines for each year under the Naval Year in Review section. It also contains a section titled Reading List/Curriculum which contains pertinent articles and resources divided by subject area, links to online courses in relevant subjects and a listing of relevant naval links. Naval Safety Center The Naval Safety Center provides information about safety issues while afloat and ashore, and those concerning aviation. Safety checklists are also provided, plus the latest news and safety publications. Statistics and surveys are available, and there is a link to the statistics division containing briefs, narratives and reports. There are links to other safety sites and the Navy and Marine Corps Operational Risk Management site. Navy Department Library The Naval Historical Center's department library contains collections of literature concerning the United States Navy. This site provides information about the physical library, its location, opening hours and contact information. It also provides a link to the virtual library, which has collections, publications and information on naval signals. It is also possible to search the library's online catalogue from this site. Office of the Chief of Naval Operations Expeditionary Warfare This site provides information about the United States Expeditionary Warfare Division. It has a fact file with details on surface ships, aircraft, armour, fire support, tracked vehicles and vehicles; a photo library; details on current operations; full text concept documents for both the Navy and Joint Forces; a press room with news articles, speeches and reports; and links to historical information. Photovault Military Images This site provides a selection of military images relating to vehicles (air force, naval aviation, submarines, aircraft carriers, hovercraft), people (Army, Navy, Marines, Coastguard) and the environment (the results of nuclear explosions and military damage). Royal Australian Navy This website of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) provides information about the fleet, news, its history, careers and facts & figures. The site links to main Australian Defence web pages, and the Defence Media Center which contains Ministerial releases and speeches, an image gallery and Defence Force Journal. There are links to other related sites, including those covering other navies and general military pages. The site also has the full text of the Australian Navy strategic plan for 2001-2030. Sea Power Magazine This is the official journal of the Navy League of the United States (NLUS). Published monthly, its focus is on maritime defence news. It features information on naval operations, naval ship and weapon developments, naval policy and industry news. The site provides the full text of the current issue, an archive to 1998 and links to the Navy League homepage. United States Coast Guard Academy The United States Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) trains cadets to become Coast Guard officers. Information is provided about academics, admissions, sport, the Cadet Military Program and the Leadership Development Center. Details are also given on the superintendent, Academy history, Academy philosophy, parents' association and alumini. It is possible to reach the areas of USCG Barque Eagle, the USCG Band, CGES (Exchange System), personnel information and health services. Telephone numbers, a calendar and commencement information is also provided. World Navies Today This site provides a database of navies and naval ships from around the world. These include surface combatants, submarines, mine warfare vessels and patrol craft over 100 tons displacement, and all amphibious ships and auxiliaries over 500 tons displacement. The site does not cover coast guards, police forces, non-self-propelled craft or non-naval branches of the government. Information is provided on navies from the United States, Europe, Russia, China, Asia & the Pacific, the Americas, Africa, the Middle East and the Persian Gulf, by country. Photographs, plus lists of aircraft carriers are also available. |
