Land Forces - Other alliances Land Forces of Britain, The Empire and Commonwealth This searchable website is devoted to charting the history of British and Commonwealth land forces from the inception of the British Army in 1660 to the present day. The site is divided into sections including; regiments, nations, wars, formations and traditions. The regimental section provides details on the regimental system and its organisation, battalion service histories, and national and regional indexes of regiments. The nations section contains a clickable world map and list of continents which covers all the nations, territories and colonies that were once part of the British Empire. Each country page contains internet links divided into government, military news, general reference, military history, regiments and corps, wars, campaigns and operations and many more subjects. The 'Al-Aqsa' Intifada : A Study in Fourth Generation Warfare This site provides information about the background to the Palestinian uprising from September 2000 until the present. It contains geographical information about Israeli and Palestinian settlements, a chronological guide to the intifada and background economic, social and political information as well as details of casualties. It is produced by the Defense and National Interest group in the US. The National Security Archive, George Washington University This is a research institute in international affairs, a library and archive of declassified US documents obtained through the Freedom of Information Act(FOIA) and an indexer and publisher. It is privately funded by publishing revenues and donations. There is a guide for researchers who either want to use the site or the archive itself, and information about publications and documents held in the archive. Current research projects are listed and include China, India-Pakistan, Iran, and Openness in Russia and Eastern Europe. |
