It gives details of naval operations and exercises, including Operation Apollo. There are links to careers, the history of the Canadian Navy, which links to Project Pride giving historical information and an image gallery. There is also news and information, an image gallery and links to formations and units and associations. Chinese Military Aviation This site focuses on weapon systems in use or being developed for the Chinese Armed Forces. It provides pictures and information about fighter aircraft, helicopters, war ships and submarines and provides links to related Chinese Military websites. Collaboration for Land, Air, Sea, and Space Vehicles : Developing the Common Ground in Vehicle Dynamics, System Identification, Control, and Handling Qualities This site provides access to a Research and Technology Organisation (NATO) Technical Report, RTO-TR-061, Paris, November 2002. This report presents the results of a study conducted by the RTO Systems Concepts and Integration Panel (SCI) Task Group SCI-53, Vehicle Dynamics, System Identification, Control and Handling Qualities. This report addresses the second goal of the SCI-53 technical team, namely to build mechanisms to assist the co-ordination and integration of experts working in the different operational environments. It provides a preliminary review of the issues involved in vehicle dynamics, modeling and system identification, control, and handling qualities as these topics apply to modern military vehicles in all four environments. By focusing on the commonalties and differences between the four environments, this report will also serve to highlight areas of potential collaboration between experts from the various technical communities. DCN International DCN - Direction Des Constructions Navales - is the major French naval shipbuilder and part of the French Ministry of Defence. DCN International is the commercial arm of DCN, handling all operations outside France. It has five specialised subsidiaries covering Combat Systems, Logistic Support, Submarine Combat Systems and Torpedo Weapon systems. DSTO Publications The Defence Science and Technology Organisation forms part of the Australian Department of Defence, which is involved in aeronautical, maritime, electronics and surveillance research. The DSTO publications - technical reports and journal articles - may be discovered both by browsing and searching. Frontier Electronic Systems Corp Frontier Electronic Systems Corp is based in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and supplies electronic equipment and technical services to the U.S. Government and its contractors. General Dynamics Supplier of sophisticated defence systems and a provider of advanced business aircraft to corporate, government and individual owners. The company has four business sectors: Aerospace, who design and manufacture business aircraft; Combat Systems who supply land and amphibious combat machines; Information Systems and Technology which deals with optical and signal processing systems, surveillance and telecommunications; Marine Systems who design and build submarines, surface combatants, auxiliary ships and commercial vessels. Kit : UK Online This site provides information on equipment currently in use with the British Army. The site is divided into equipment, aircraft, armoured vehicles, artillery and air defence, BOWMAN, electronic battlefield, engineer equipment, individual equipment, landing craft and assault boats, logistics vehicles, NBC defence equipment, and small arms and support weapons. It provides brief information and specifications of the equipment and images. It is also possible to link to a website which provides 360 degree images of vehicles used by the British Army and their interiors. Lockheed Martin Naval Electronics and Surveillance Systems - Marine Systems This division of Lockheed Martin is involved in designing and building vertical launching systems for use on Navy surface ships, and hull form technology. This site provides the background and history of the company, product details and information on the history of the products, and employment opportunities. Maritime Index Maritime-Index is a database of maritime systems manufacturers aimed at professionals in the civil and military communities. It allows searching or browsing of the directory by product/service, name or country. The products and services include marine equipment and systems, weapons and munitions, information technology, marine platforms, personnel systems, communications and medical. The site also provides access to articles, press releases, company and government news, details on exhibitions and conferences and a job centre. The site is also available in Spanish and Arabic. Military.com Designed for America's military community, this site aims to meet the needs of military consumers. It is a joint service site and covers travel, careers, reunions, finance and merchandise, as well as military history, military equipment, military news and military operations. There are areas tailored specifically to members of the army, navy, air force, marine corps, coast guard, veterans and spouses which you have to register to use, but subscriptions are free. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Multinational company with over 37,000 employees worldwide. It has 11 headquarters, each with a different specialism, including shipbuilding and Ocean Development, Power Systems, Nuclear Energy Systems and Aerospace Systems. Site gives company and product information including its annual report, financial statements and abstracts of the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Technical Review. Site is also available in Japanese. Naval Safety Center The Naval Safety Center provides information about safety issues while afloat and ashore, and those concerning aviation. Safety checklists are also provided, plus the latest news and safety publications. Statistics and surveys are available, and there is a link to the statistics division containing briefs, narratives and reports. There are links to other safety sites and the Navy and Marine Corps Operational Risk Management site. Naval Surface Warfare Center This is the web site of the hydromechanics directorate at Naval Surface Warfare Center. Its listed research projects deal with the research and development, testing and evaluation of ships, submarines and other marine technology. The information provided is held on a DOD (defence)interest computer and various conditions, restrictions and disclaimers apply. Naval Technology Directory maintained by Net Resources International Ltd. Provides naval technology news and covers industry projects including amphibious ships, aircraft carriers, destroyers, frigates, submarines and naval aircraft. There is also a naval defence equipment products and services directory and an A-Z company index. It also has details of exhibitions, conferences and events and careers. Navy Department Library The Naval Historical Center's department library contains collections of literature concerning the United States Navy. This site provides information about the physical library, its location, opening hours and contact information. It also provides a link to the virtual library, which has collections, publications and information on naval signals. It is also possible to search the library's online catalogue from this site. Navy News Online This is the online version of the Royal Navy newspaper, Navy News. It covers information on Royal Navy operations, naval ship and aviation developments, organisational changes, sporting and charitable events, historical features and book reviews. It is possible to subscribe to the magazine from this site. The site provides current news and an archive of news, features and sport. The site also provides information on shipping movements, the weather, and links to the Royal Navy homepage. Office of Naval Research This is the web site of the Office of Naval Research (ONR), which promotes and coordinates United States Navy and Marine Corps science, technology, research and development programmes. The site contains details on the main ONR science and technology departments of: Information, Electronics and Surveillance; Ocean, Atmosphere and Space; Engineering, Materials and Physical Science; Human Systems; Naval Expeditionary Warfare; and Industrial and Corporate Programs. There are also details on news and press releases; conferences and workshops; contracts and grants and university research initiatives; and science and technology programmes. The military section contains information on the Future Naval Capabilities (FNC) programme, naval related conferences and workshops, and information on the Swampworks transformation initiative. There are also resources for young children and primary and secondary school teachers on oceanograpy, space sciences and submarines. Office of the Chief of Naval Operations Expeditionary Warfare This site provides information about the United States Expeditionary Warfare Division. It has a fact file with details on surface ships, aircraft, armour, fire support, tracked vehicles and vehicles; a photo library; details on current operations; full text concept documents for both the Navy and Joint Forces; a press room with news articles, speeches and reports; and links to historical information. Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd Rafael, Advanced Defense Systems Ltd undertakes research, development and production of defence systems for air, land, sea and space applications in co-operation with the Israeli Defence Forces and other armed forces. They also develop commercial applications and are involved with technology transfer. The site provides details of products and capabilities, news and events. Royal Institution of Naval Architects RINA, the Royal Institution of Naval Architects, is involved in the design, construction, repair and operation of ships, boats and marine structures. It provides technical journals, transactions and conference proceedings, covering all aspects of naval architecture and the maritime industry. RINA holds international conferences, seminars and training courses, covering topics on marine research, development and operation. This site provides information about RINA, its publications, membership and library. Free downloads of RINA publications are available, and there is a searchable database of RINA papers. There are also sections covering RINA events, news and careers. It is also possible to order RINA merchandise and publications online. Sea Power Magazine This is the official journal of the Navy League of the United States (NLUS). Published monthly, its focus is on maritime defence news. It features information on naval operations, naval ship and weapon developments, naval policy and industry news. The site provides the full text of the current issue, an archive to 1998 and links to the Navy League homepage. Sonatech An underwater acoustic systems development organisation which is a subsidiary of Channel Technologies, based in California. It is concerned with analysis, design, and manufacture of underwater acoustic systems for: communication, ocean navigation, sonars, noise-measurement hydrophone arrays, signal processing, and tracking. Site contains technical product information, details on facilities at the organisation, press releases, employment information and full text technical papers. Sperry Marine Northrop Grumman Sperry Marine encorporates products from Sperry, Decca and C.Plath. This site provides information on their products and services, which include marine radar systems, ship defence systems, navigational sensors, gyrocompasses and machinery automation, along with commercial marine products. Information is also available concerning product certifications, product brochures, global customer service and a history of the company. Press releases and details of events are also provided. World Navies Today This site provides a database of navies and naval ships from around the world. These include surface combatants, submarines, mine warfare vessels and patrol craft over 100 tons displacement, and all amphibious ships and auxiliaries over 500 tons displacement. The site does not cover coast guards, police forces, non-self-propelled craft or non-naval branches of the government. Information is provided on navies from the United States, Europe, Russia, China, Asia & the Pacific, the Americas, Africa, the Middle East and the Persian Gulf, by country.
