Armada International

Bi-monthly magazine with a focus on technical aspects of defence equipment and services. It covers land sea and air forces internationally. The site provides the full text of the current issue and archives are available to 1997.


Defense Express

Defense Express is an analytical bulletin created by the Center for Army Conversion and Disarmament Studies. It has military, political, economic and technical news. There are current defence news and archives of defence related news which is searchable by date. The site is available in English and Russian.


Defense News

News site providing daily summaries on the defence industry, defence policy and defence technology from around the world. It provides the world headlines as well as regional news and is also divided into subjects such as air, land and naval warfare. In order to access the full stories, registration is required which is free to subscribers of the paper version of Defense News. Other site available to subscribers include global directories, market forecasts, in depth reports and access to the current issue of the journal.


Federal Research Division: Country Studies

This site contains on-line versions of books previously published by the Federal Research Division of the Library of Congress in the Country Studies/Area Handbook series, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Army. The site, which is searchable and browseable includes history, government, military and lifestyle information for each country/area. The site does not include information on the UK, France Canada and other Western and some African nations.


International Journal of Defense Acquisition Management

Online defence acquisition management journal jointly published by Cranfield University at the Defence College of Management and Technology and the Acquisition Research Programme at the Graduate School of Business and Public Policy of the Naval Postgraduate School. Topics covered include acquisition and procurement policy; supply chain management; logistics, cost and project management; public budgeting and finance; engineering management; outsourcing; performance measurement; and through life capability management. Full text articles are available from 2008.


North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO)

This website provides information on NATO's policies and structures, official documents, press releases, speeches and publications and provides links to other relevant sites. Details are given on the latest news, ministerial meetings, NATO exercises and NATO in Kosovo. Information is available about NATO's organisation, its member & partner countries, and its civil & military structure and command. NATO agencies and staff vacancies are also covered. The online library provides fact sheets, documents and publications. The multimedia section provides images, video, internet broadcasts, audio and virual visits. Sub- sites include IFOR/ SFOR, Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council and Partnership for Peace (PfP). This site is also available in French.


Officer Selection

Research and Technology Organization Meeting Proceedings, RTO-MP-55, 9-11 November 1999, Monterey California. It contains papers presented at the Workshop of the RTO Human Factors and Medicine Panel about officer selection for the armed forces. The papers were presented by international civilian and military personnel managers and researchers covering subjects such as personnel selection and management, officer personnel, recruitment and job analysis.


Officer Selection

Research and Technology Organization Technical Report, RTO-TR-034, published in 2001. This is the final report on officer selection produced by the Human Factors and Medicine (HFM) Research and Study Group and follows on from the officer selection meeting proceedings in RTO-MP-55. It provides an overview of international officer selection procedures and presents the results of a survey on armed forces officer selection and personnel guidelines.


Photovault Military Images

This site provides a selection of military images relating to vehicles (air force, naval aviation, submarines, aircraft carriers, hovercraft), people (Army, Navy, Marines, Coastguard) and the environment (the results of nuclear explosions and military damage).


Serbian Government

This site provides information and news from the Serbian Office of Communication. Through the news section details are available of current issues, politics, Kosovo & Metohia, the economy, culture & religion, and sport. As well as news from the foreign press, and statements of Government and Ministries. The site also provides sections with facts about Serbia, the Serbian government and the transition of the country. The site is also available in Serbo-Croatian.


US Army Center of Military History

The US Army Center of Military History maintains the official history of the US army in terms of organisation, structure and operations. The web site provides access to many full text documents including online papers and reports on the major conflicts which the army has been involved, from the 1800's to the present day. Included are: the War of Independence; First and Second World Wars; Vietnam War; Korean War and the Cold War. Battle accounts, financial documents and military law are also included. Access to the centers library catalogue is possible,there are guides to researching military history. Information on the history of organisational changes in the American Army and news on military history events are all included on the web site. There is also an image archive.
