Armoured vehicles Alvis Vickers Limited Alvis Vickers Limited is the result of a merger between Alvis Vehicles Limited and Vickers Defence Systems and is the UK’s only armoured vehicle manufacturer. The company's products include tracked, wheeled and support armoured vehicles. This site provides information about their product range which includes pictures and specifications, latest developments, a photograph gallery of armoured vehicles and historical images connected to the company, and a history of Alvis and Vickers. Army Technology Image Gallery Image gallery of equipment, systems and components of the defence industry including; ammunition and fuzes; armoured fighting vehicles and upgrades; artillery and mortars; bridging and breaching equipment; civil defence, security and law enforcement products and services; explosives; small arms; NBC equipment; surveillance systems; and turrets. There is also a section titled projects which features air defence missile systems, anti-armour missiles, armoured fighting vehicles, artillery systems, attack helicopters, main battle tanks, support helicopters, and unmanned aerial vehicles. Collaboration for Land, Air, Sea, and Space Vehicles : Developing the Common Ground in Vehicle Dynamics, System Identification, Control, and Handling Qualities This site provides access to a Research and Technology Organisation (NATO) Technical Report, RTO-TR-061, Paris, November 2002. This report presents the results of a study conducted by the RTO Systems Concepts and Integration Panel (SCI) Task Group SCI-53, Vehicle Dynamics, System Identification, Control and Handling Qualities. This report addresses the second goal of the SCI-53 technical team, namely to build mechanisms to assist the co-ordination and integration of experts working in the different operational environments. It provides a preliminary review of the issues involved in vehicle dynamics, modeling and system identification, control, and handling qualities as these topics apply to modern military vehicles in all four environments. By focusing on the commonalties and differences between the four environments, this report will also serve to highlight areas of potential collaboration between experts from the various technical communities. Combat Systems General Dynamic's Combat Systems group is a supplier of land and amphibious combat vehicles from development to production to customer support. This site gives an overview of each unit and links to their individual websites. The units are; Armament Systems, Land Systems, Ordnance and Tactical Systems, and Santa Barbara Sistemas. Encyclopedia of the Tanks of World War II An enthusiast site containing details of tanks and armoured vehicles that served in World War Two. It is possible to view tanks in chronological order of being made (from 1917 - 1945), or to compare tanks using a split screen which gives summary details of technical data. There is also more detailed information and pictures of each vehicle provided. Information can also be accessed on vehicles produced by country, these include France, Britain, Russia, America, Germany, Italy and Spain. The site is also available in French. Military Vehicle Digest The military vehicle digest provides the latest military vehicle news. It is possible to visit the vintage video HQ which is a military video online store. The site also provides a jeep identification index and military parts locator (which gives store listings). The Military Vehicle Digest Club List gives information about associated trusts and associations, and images of military vehicles are provided in the military truck gallery. There is also a link to the Ordnance Unlimited Collection, which is involved in the aquisition and sales of U.S. military excess inventory. Roberts Armory Roberts Armory is a travelling exhibition of US artillery and military vehicles from the Second World War. This site provides images and historical information of the vehicles in the collection, plus details of magazines and links to other related sites. The images of the collection include museum exhibits, musical collections, restoration technology, research and development, the 70th Tank Battalion, World War Two reenacting and World War Two archives. Boren. The report looks at the impact of recapitalisation - rebuilding and upgrading fielded systems in order to extend their service lives. Its focus is on the M1 Abrams tank and the link between tank age and mission critical failure. |
