International security and international relations Web sites (Part 1)

War, Peace and Security World Wide Web Server
This site is produced by the Canadian Forces College. If you are looking for a place to start, this has a catalogue of books, periodicals and many government documents on line. There is also a guide to web-based defence resources and links to full text doctrine websites.

WWW Virtual Library : International Affairs Resources
Another good place to start your research, this site provides annotated links to sites on international affairs. Topics include peace, conflict resolution, and international security and American foreign policy.

ISN - International Relations and Security Network
ISN is a Swiss contribution to Partnership for Peace, coordinated and developed by the Centre for Security Studies and Conflict Research at the ETH Zurich. The ISN is a one-stop information service in the fields of international relations and security.

Verification Research Training and Information Centre (VERTIC)
This is an independent non-profit making research body concerned with the status and progress of international treaties and agreements and international agreements which impact on the international community, for example arms agreements. The main areas of research are: peace and security, arms control and disarmament, and the environment. There are lists of electronic and paper publications and recommended web sites.

Trust and Verify
Like VERTIC this site is concerned with the monitoring and status of intra-national agreements and treaties on such issues as arms control, peace and security and the environment. Trust and Verify is a monthly journal containing articles, news and reviews.

India-Pakistan Conflict
This is quite a specific website, but nonetheless useful for anyone interested in the region or the conflict. The site contains news summaries and links to more news topics on defence and security related subjects such as terrorism and weapons of mass destruction.

Institute for the Study of Conflict, Ideology, and Policy (ISCIP) : Perspective
Perspective is a full-text electronic journal provided by the ISCIP based at Boston University. The ISCIP studies political, international and security affairs of Russia and the NIS. There are links to the ISCIP and further publications as well as a database on post-Soviet affairs.

CMR Network
CMR (Civil-Military Relations) Network is an electronic journal published quarterly available free on the internet. It is produced by the Defence Studies Department, Kings College London at JSCSC. It focuses on relations in Central and Eastern Europe.

Jane's Defence Discovery
Another search facility of over two million sites related to defence in the following categories: forces, associations, industry (defence), government, academic, police and security. As you would expect it has links to other Jane's services on-line.

Early Bird Current News Service
This is a daily news service produced by the American Forces Information Service, Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs, and in collaboration with the Defense Technical Information Center. Useful for keeping up-to-date on latest developments, though of course, it has an American bias.
